Default did currie make me the wrong axles?

hey guys, so i finally got in my axles from currie today. i have a 9 inch out of a 69 mach one that im building up. originally it was a 28 spline rear and im upgrading it to a 31 spline. i received my new axles today in the mail and i laid them next to the stock ones to notice a couple of things...the axle itself is a couple of inches longer then the stock 69 mach1 9inch axle and the splines on my 31spline currie axle are a lot longer then the stock 28 spline axle's spline. is this normal since im upgrading to larger axles or should everything be identical?

wow talk about an amateur mistake...i compared the short axle to the long axle...don't mind me, it's still kind of early lol

whew, I feel your relief. May be a silly mistake but I bet you feel a whole lot better about having the right parts.

I am assuming that you are upgrading the carrier to accomodate the 31 spline axles right?

haha i am very relieved i have the right parts lol...but here's another dumb question that i can't figure out. how do i know what side the short axle goes into and what side the longer axle goes into...i didn't pay attention to the lengths when i stripped the rear down bc at first i didn't know there was a short and a long axle. and 67t5 to answer you yes i upgraded everything. i went with a ford racing t-lok (31spline), a chromemolly 1350 strange yolk, 3.70 strange gears, and then the 31 spline currie axles. should be a pretty beefy rear! (fingers crossed lol)

Did you remove your old axle seals out of the rear end?..They won't work with the new bigger diameter axles and will prevent the axle from going in....Install your short axle first..If you have it on the wrong side it won't reach the carrier and you will know right away..
