I replaced the PCV valve last night. It is probably my imagination, but it idled pretty good in the garage for about 5 min before I shut it off. The choke plate was never completely vertical. Its been raining a lot in central Illinois this week so it looks like I won't be able to really test it out until the weekend. The car has not gotten wet since I bought it, no sense starting now. )

Thought I would post an update. Finally was able to take the car for a long drive (two actually) and the idle is much much smoother (before and after the long drive) after replacing the PCV valve. It also rides smoother at high speeds after replacing the shocks and springs. Now I just have a little hesitation at low speeds, but nothing major.
