Default Engine Tick, Oil on plugs

'65 200cc 6 cylinder-

My engine has been running pretty rough at idle then suddenly developed a 'tick'. So I pulled the plugs was appalled to see a couple of them swimming in oil and a couple others completely fouled. Any ideas on where the oil is coming from or what the 'tick' might be?

Make sure you are getting spark on all cylinders, starting with the oily ones (the "oil" may actually be unburnt gas).
The ticking might be a spark plug wire shorting out or arcing because of a bad SP wire connection.
If spark's ok, Do a compression test to rule out rings/valves.

I've got the exact same problem on my 65 200cc, my water pump burned up and once I installed the new pump I was getting a lot of oil coming from the #4 cylinder. Hopefully it is just a bad piston ring and nothing too expensive
