Default Engine stumbles only in reverse.

I have an interesting problem id like to describe to see if any of you guys have experienced it before with your mustang.

Recently when i shift my 68's C4 into reverse, the engine dies or nearly dies, and giving it gas does nothing. However shifting into any other gear (D, 2, 1, or even N and P) there is no problem, runs smooth as a top. Any ideas?

do you have to step on the brake to take it out of park?

my buddy has a 68 cougar and it was doing the same thing, he said he unplugged the brake light switch and it fixed the problem, although i dont know how his brake lights are supposed to work, maybe try unplugging it and see if it still does it

Run a ground wire from the battery negative to the engine block - jumper cables work like a champ here. You may have an engine ground going bad that opens up with torque in reverse. The same is possible for any other wiring such as the positive to the coil or distributor. Try the ground test BEFORE wiggling wiring as too many times you can wiggle a harness looking for it to stumble only to fix the problem without knowing it and without knowing where it is, it's hard to find when it happens again.
