Default 67 fastback

Hello all,
This question is from a friend in Germany so please excuse the English. I'm a Chevy guy (sorry) He is asking a question I can not answer so I figured I would see if anyone here can help him out. Thank you in advance.

Hi Paul,
Today I have a question that I could not figure out by myself :-(
Mayer you know this?
In my cart I have an old Mallory coil that uses and resistor to get only 8-9V while the car is running.
This coil is a piece of art and could be shown in a museum :-)
I like to by a new one... A Mallory Promaster #29450 (should be the right for my distributor Mallory 57 series with magnetic breakerles)
The Question is:
The Promaster coil doesn't need a resistor and I'm scared that after I put it in the starting will be les good than before.
Today I have a direct connection from the Magnetic (Starter switch) to the coil to get fully 12 V on the coil while starting the engine.
With the new one it gets all the time only the lower voltage :-( Does this have any influence?

Mayer you know or you know someone to ask about this topic???

its a 67 Fastback.
I forgot to tell you that the original resistance wire is not in anymore because of electrical problems.

Thanks in advance

Mit freundlichen Grüssen | With kind regards

He needs to replace the resistor wire (pink) with a regular wire, then he will get the full 12v to the coil.

More info.

Hi Paul,
I got :-)
Sorry for my late reply but I was in Greece last week and I forgot to set my Outlook to send an answer mail.
May be I asked the question wrong :-(
Of course I did a normal cable now from the ignition switch to the coil.
Before I changed the wiring the coil got 12 V only while starting the engine, to get a better spark.
In normal running the coil got only 8 V to secure the coil.
The 8 V was reduced by the second resistant beside the coil.
In the new coil from Mallory the resistant is internal and so I'm scared about getting les starting performance...

But anyway: I have the worst case scenario now!
On Saturday morning I blow up my Ignition Module :-(
