Rat...I dont think anyone using the hydraulic or the mustang steve setup uses the spring under the dash..I dont with either the hydraulic or cable setup (I had both)

The spring might be used on old style clutches or maybe the z bar setup which I know nothing about.

-Gun

P.s I got rid of my cable setup for the exact same reasons as 05gt

One thing is just about for sure, if the throwout bearing has been riding against the diaphragm with anything more than the SLIGHTEST pressure for any kind of time, it will be shot.

ya, if someone could find the instructions on how to adjust pre-load settings, I really dont want to pull the transmission out of the car again because the throwout bearing is shot.

http://www.mustangsteve.com/cable.html

This is the product I remember reading about the preload setting and how to adjust the cable.

Ask steve if he can send (email) you the instructions for the cable clutch kit or simply ask him if he has a how to for cable adjustment

I am done with the cable, going with hydraulic now. Any one recommend a good place to buy a kit? Thanks.

Not from NPD its the same stuff that guys like Dazecars and I think JamesW sell.

I got my hydraulic kit from Day S. of Dazecars

http://dazed.home.bresnan.net/test#3

Email him and see if the bracket is still available and ask what MC and SC (master slave cylinders) to get and what else you'll need.

I think I got the whole thing for like 200 bucks and NPD wants like 600 for the same thing.

PS I think the initial setting for hydraulic is to gently push the fork by hand until it stops and there is no play then adjust the ball end as shown on the above page so it hold the fork like your hand was doing. No real pressure but no noticeable play either.

How hard is it to install a complete hydraulic kit from dazed compared to the cable kit from modern driveline. Does the hydraulic kit just bolt up to the clutch pedal? Anyone have any pictures? Thanks.
