Security for my 69, lowjack?
The usual replies: "rollbacks are waiting around the corner, you're screwed..." All that BS aside, my vote is for lowjack as well, though I'd research it a bit and check for reviews on the retrieval rate. Second place IMO goes to a 2 way remote system that warns you via your remote of tampering. Wiring it to explode on startup is an option as well, but that can be frowned upon and not a good idea if you're a drinker. Hmm... I'm thinking of changing my personal vote to that latter.
Unless they upgraded lowjack it use to use radio waves and a cop had to go out looking for it.The best insurance you can afford everything a alarm does to slow someone down can be worked around real easy.Even if the alarm has gps tracing they sell a gps blocker online plugs right in the cig lighter.I'm a repo man i know a few tricks about going around alarms the club and brake lock thing i got a tool that bust them off in 90 secs.

But the best option I've heard of is a 2 way alarm. A few guys here have them.
I had a previous car with a 2 way pager that worked out nicely for me, not so well for the guy I caught hanging out my window feet first. His trip to the hospital and jail was well worth the cost of the alarm and I paid the <$100 to replace the window win/win/lose!
I plan to install on the mustang when running, if one of these $100K rollback tow truck operators that are stealing cars constantly as indicated in every alarm post sets off my pager the response will be the same, a tow truck is not a tank, they have windows and are a little obvious driving with your classic mustang on the back...

no one uses a rollback anymore a standard pickup with a wheel lift can take a car in under 30 secs.If they are willing to steal a car they probably are armed too.Watch how fast this one is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qsvAvb5NMQ

Ok, a $50K truck, still obvious going down the street with a classic mustang. If they are willing to risk their life to steal a car they may loose it also. I still haven't seen a percentage of classic cars or other cars stolen in this manner, I guess they all get away scott free and are invisible? Also remember that the alarm will be going off constantly and blinking the lights while it's being towed down the street. How many of your fellow tow truck drivers have been arrested for doing this? It sounds pretty prevalent in your city?
If you don't want to arm or alarm your car that is fine, but the OP wishes to alarm his car, telling him not to will lower the chance of knowing that your car is being broken into or stolen to almost 0.
Many people also believe it is a waste of time to add 3 pt. belts, collapseable column, disc brakes or anything that may increase your chance of survival also, saying you'll probably die anyway. I also take every measure I can to make my car safer.
I do insure my car but I also take every reasonable measure to know if my car is being tampered with. I had 4 incidents with one car over 8yrs., 3/4 got caught, 1 was a smash and grab, they got a bag full of work clothes...so the way I see it my alarm paid off 3/4 times. That's a better ratio than you'll get with no alarm.
I would look into a lojack type system if I could track it myself on a smartphone, etc. I'd want to find it FIRST.
