Question Alternator Warning Light?

The last two times I started my mustang the alternator warning light came on for 2-3 seconds and then went off. Is this something to worry about? I have a new alternator less than 6 months in the car but the battery is several years old, could the battery be going??

probably the idle was low causing it to flicker...you said when you first start it so that would be my guess....

O.k. that would make sense, once I lightly tap the gas it goes away and stays away. Thanks!

Alternators rely on a minimal voltage/rpm to start charging. At low enough RPMs, the light may never go off. One kick of the gas usually takes care of this until key off. It's rarely a problem but if it's under warranty keep an eye on it as you may want to replace it if it gets worse before going out of warranty. And as mentioned - make sure your idle speed is up to snuff.
