Default 9" help

What from a stock 9" can be used in a street rebuild, 500 HP, 500 TQ?

Do all pieces need to be replaced with new original or new stronger? I guess the question is what can a 9" stock handle?

Stock 9" will handle that easy Only replace what's worn. Bearings etc. If it's open rear end you'd want to change for locking for some added fun factor and tractoon

If your planing to drag race it with slicks then you start having problems with breakage.

31 spline truck rears seem to be whats available in the yards, I know that the 31's can be narrowed, but can you swap out the truck hubs for cars or are new axels required?

1, how is it going to be driven?

2, what engine setup are you using that you think is going to be 500hp?

460, 9.6 comp with Edelbrock Top End Kit, Car Craft did this build awhile back and got 514 HP.

I know you hate street BB's, but thats a pretty impressive figure for a reliable and easy build. Strictly a weekend toy for straight line fun.

If your going to shorten a truck axle i would weld on a back brace to the housing and replace everything in it.The last truck with a 9 inch was 96 even those have a ton of miles on them now.

I don't hate street big blocks, I just wanted to know what setup you were going to use to see what it would need as far as a rear end. I'd run 31s axles with a good carrier setup.

But it's also going to depend on tires, transmission and how you drive it. Street tires on a soft clutch or auto isn't a big deal. but sticky tires with clutch dumps on a hard clutch will break the same setup.
