Default RE: gas prices

I took a 600 mile road trip last weekend and got a surprisingly good average of 22MPG for the journey, despite the fact that I have a 4 barrel carb. Someone told me that in condtions where there isn't much accelerating (like on a highway roadtrip) 4-barrel carbs are actually more efficient than 2 barrel carbs as most of the time only 2 barrels are open and each barrel on a 4 barrel carb is actually a little smaller than on a 2 barrel.

I don't know what two think of this. Do you guys think it makes sense?

It makes perfectly good sense to me. But, when you romp on it to pass another car, goodbye gas mileage.
