good find. is it one of those with HEI module on top?
can you maybe raise the aircleaner (put a spacer under the carb) if you're not hitting the bonnet then?
check the plugleads. if it was arcing they might be faulty

Temp solution until the spacer was a foam waxing applicator on the top of the dizzy. I'm very limited on space. I may go to a nice looking round air cleaner.
