Default Mach 1 help

I have a 73 Mach 1. The motor is stalling like it is grasping for fuel once it is hot. The first time it happened, I put the clutch in to downshift and the motor died. Coasted into a safe place and checked to see if I was out of gas. Had gas - so I started it up like it was flooded. Got home. Tried to go again this am and it started and idled up great.
Once I tried to back out it started stalling again - unless I was pumping the gas pedal. Checked the fuel pump and it is squirting gas. We are having a heat wave down her in central Texas. I am leaning toward a fuel pump - once a load gets on it and after it heats up possibly??? (my ole 283 chev did that back in the 70's) When I pulled the filter case from the carb to test the pump - I noticed that I did not put a filter in there from 2004 when Pony Carbs redid my quad. But - at idel and wraping the motor after starting it up -it was normal. Vapor lock - worn out pump. The motor was completely redone in 93 - but only 15k miles on it since then and a new pump was put on at the rebuild. Hate to pull the pump when it just be something simple.
Thanks, machonedude - Wimberley Texas
