Question Body Work

So my 65 Mustang Coupe is going to the body shop in 2 weeks to get new rear quarters, wheelhouses, rocker panels, taillight panel, and rear valance. I am looking to replace the front fenders myself but not sure how difficult or easy they are to replace. From what I see it looks like simple unbolt and re-bolt. Is this true?

Yea the fronts will unbolt and rebolt, spend some time aligning the doors first, then line the fenders up really nice...

Good luck on the 2 weeks.... maybe, somehow I doubt it though..

I just had two quarters put on my car. I paid extra for the "good" full quarters from NPD. Turns out, they were far from a perfect fit. Make sure your body shop knows how to metal work or you'll have new quarters with a lot of bondo on them in order to make everything line up.

Yeah, when we took our quarters to get put on our Mustang, the bodyman said that they look like good panels. Then after putting them on he realized that they weren't so great.

Putting on the Fenders should be easy enough. The hard part will be getting the doors and the fenders lined up right. The actual removal and assembly should be easy.

O.k. thanks I will have to try with one fender and see how that goes. I am not getting the car painted yet just getting some of the expensive body work done first. I am having a body shop that only works on old mustangs do the work. They are a little more expensive then others but I figured rather have someone who works with these cars all the time work on it.

800 a quarter, that includes cutting out the old full quarter and replacing it with a new one, welded in place. Doesn't include paint as I am not getting it painted at this moment, just getting all the body work fixed first.

Mine were done in repayment for a favor. They say it is smart to have a heart surgeon in debt to you. The same could be said for a good bodyman.

Come to think of it, it might be better to owe the heart surgeon since he/she would be motivated to keep you alive.

IMHO, $800 a qrtr is a good price
