Default usa-66 not responding help

I got a usa-66 am fm radio for my 66 mustang. I ran into a problem on the install though seems it powers on but does not respond and no sound comes out. It lights up green indicating its in aux mode but it will not change off it when function is pressed. I have trouble shot it for over 4 hours. Looking online and re hooking it up. Still nothing

I had the same problem on the one I had to fix for a friend. After they fixed the on switch, he told me to turn it off for 30 seconds then turn it back on and switch modes. It worked a few times but was still iffy.

I still dont like them

I am not familiar with those, but be sure you have a solid ground, and be sure you did not kill your car battery by working on it a few hours. I have seen many installs where the installer killed the battery and then wondered why the system was not working.

I doubt its the wiring those radios are known to be crap and die after a year.

Yet they've sold them for the last 30 years.

I agree with checking the ground. I had some strange happenings when trying to install an 8-track player and assumed the radio was the problem. Later I found it was not properly grounded. Once I fixed that it worked just fine.

I will check the ground. I have re hooked up everything but that one. I am sure they are not crap due to how long they have been in business andrewmp6. I thought it was odd it would be in aux mode but not put out any sound and not change to any other mode. I hope to get it working I got the car without a radio in it and it's been to quiet driving around.

Also wanted to ask opinions on what wires are best to tap into for the acc. Wire aka the Orange one and the constant power wire aka the red one.

Whatever your opinion may be this is a post asking for advice on fixing a problem. It's not ment for someone to come in and give a rude vulgar opinion and not help. Thanks have a great day.
