Default Window will not roll up... help

My drivers side window stopped rolling up today. It rolls down very smooth but the handle will not rotate the other direction it jams up.

Pulling up on the glass does not help

I took the cover off and there is nothing obviously wrong.

All the regulators that I can see look fine.

What part should I suspect?

take your panel off post picture plaza, it will make the diagnosis easier, there are a few things it can be, post pics. You could always do it the other way and be a parts changer, but it sounds to me like some it exceeded its range of motion at some point, its like likley the mechanism that stops the window from rolling down on its own.

Humm that is quite possible...

I cant even see inside that thing...Im not sure how to get pictures. I took the vinyl / cardboard panel off. There are just the small access holes about the size of a fist and nothing to see behind them. I guess this is the part that's really got me. How do you even get to this stuff...cut the door skin off?

Go at every contact point with a can of white lithium grease, spray liberally. Make sure you get the rollers, and the tracks too. Work the handle back and forth as much as you can as you spray. Unless there is something that has fallen down in the track and is wedging the glass, you'll free it up.

it gets used daily and has been oiled in the last year...I doubt its an oil issue it is jammed up by a force greater than oxidation.

okay lets try this another way.

I assume that it is part 23202-1A front window regulator or equivalent on NPD... How do I remove the front window regulator for inspection?

remove the window roll up handle

Remove the 4 or 5 bolts (how many are there)?

And then that whole thing will slide out one of those access holes?

This is on a 66 mustang

Thanks!

okay i got the regulator out of there pretty easy no big deal...how bout that?

The drive gear seems to be the issue either the bushing and or the drive gear are messed up enough that it will not move the other direction.

Should I order a new regulator from NPD or are they total crap?

If they are total crap is there a practical way to repair the bushing where the handle attaches?

time for a hunt, go to your local salvage yard and look for your car or ones that look to share a resemblance to your part. the know either slides off forward or is clipped or has a cap a screw setup. check same year ford cars too some will use same parts

I replaced both regulators with two new ones from CJ's after they wouldn't roll back up. They have been fine for a number of months. I did have a problem with one of the handle screws being cross threaded in the shaft. I found this out AFTER I installed. It broke off and I was pissed. I wound up slicing about an 1/8th of an inch off the end of the shaft with a cutoff wheel to free the screw.
PITA!!!

I myself wouldn't go hunting in a salvage yard, chances are anything you may be lucky enough to find has gone to crap anyway.
