351w swap
noobie here, i looked under the FAQs thread but couldn't find the info i need. my 67 fastback has a/c and i want to keep it. with the 351w swap, can i use the 351 dampener and crank pully or will i need to switch out the ones from the 289? are they even compatible? the 351 pulley is bigger and not sure it will line up with the a/c pulley.
thanks in advance, this site looks pretty cool btw.

I did a similar swap replacing the 302 in my 68 with my 408(351 block)..The bad news is nothing lined up with my old brackets. You will have the same problems unless you are lucky enough to have a 1969 351..1970 and later used different spacing for the pulleys....The good news is you can reuse your old front cover and balancer..The brackets will still be a bit of a challenge since the 351 has a taller deck height..That means that anything that originally bolted to the water pump and the heads on the 289 will no longer bolt up since the heads are now about 1 inch higher...There are adaptors you can get to help out with this though......
Here is a pic of my 302 pulley on the left vs my 1982 351 on the right.

Yes the 289 and 351 are both 28 oz balanced so the balancer should work fine..You will need to use the 289 waterpump as well as it is shorter..Basically all of the 289 front dress...I would mock it up first to see what if any issues you will have...You also have to consider which side you want the waterpump hose to be on and then have the timing marks on the correct side to work with the rad hose..Chances are your 351 will have the rad hose on the drivers side and timing marks on the passengers side..The 289 will likely be the exact opposite..
