ive heard that the wraps keep in moisture, later causing it to rust premature

two-sided sword, as 1ofakind says can cause other problems. In many cases the headers crack, since they can't get rid of the heat. If you buty the headers there's usually a note with it that warranty is void when you wrap them

Just get the headers coated locally is the best option.

I agree..Make sure the headers fit and do any dimpling of the tubes if necessary for clearance first..Then send them out for ceramic coating..

Get them coated, wrapping is a pain in the a... and it will start to come loose, holds moisture... and the coating looks better too.

I'd start with tracing the gas line and move it to get it further from the heat, or get some of the fiberglass heat shield and insulate the gas line.

Make sure the float level in the carb is set high enough. If its too low and you have higher carb temps it might be affecting it.

Change to a thicker carb gasket or get a phenolic/resin spacer. This will keep heat out of the carb that may be getting transmitted to the carb from the intake manifold.

Another trick is to run a bit larger gas line which sould be able to dissapate(sp?) heat better.

Most of the time vapor lock is not having a carb spacer or the fuel line to the carb too close to the engine. As far as coasting look in your phone book for a ceramic coating company every big city has a few so price shop around.Price can be 150 bucks to 300 depends that temp the coating is rated to and the color they can do it chrome looking or colors like powder coating.
