Default dash pad dying

Has anyone tried dying a dash pad Aqua? If so what color dash pad did you start with? How did it turn out and how has it held up? Thanks for any info or tips as I am about to do this for my 66 coupe

I would be interested in a good picture tutorial of this also. I need to do this someday when i replace my door panels. I have been told that i should start with a black panel.

Since the pad is not available in aqua, you should dye a blue one to aqua. I have done this, and the results look factory.
