Default wiring question

I have a question about the wiring for the gas tank. I have the wiring done at the sending unit on the tank and have ran the other half of the yellow and white wire to the dash. Now I have a plug with a male and female attatchement that has a yellow and white wire as well as a black wire that go into it. But the problem is I have 2 wires that seem would plug into this plug one black wire and one yellow and white one but both are male wires. Can someone send me a photo or something of how their gas tank sending unit is hooked up at the dash end or any help would be appreciated.

I couldn't follow your color and plug thing, but there should only be 2 wires coming from the sender, one is a ground, (sometimes omitted) and a gauge feed.

The ground will usually attach to the edge of the sender on bare metal, which then runs to a good body ground. The gauge feed goes to the "negative" side of the fuel gauge.

Nothing else is not needed for operation, provided the fuel gauge has power. (stock gauges will need a instrument regulator, so don't hook to a full 12V.)

same problem here. I'm completely lost at where the connectors really are or what you actually did.

the way the power flows through all this is:

1st wire: from voltage regulator in dash (5V) cable to gauge positive side
2nd wire: from gauge negative side ---> fuel tank sensor
3rd wire: from fuel tank sensor cable to ground (chassis/frame)

what year is that car?
