Default Autolite 4100 Carb Install = WOW!!!!!

I installed an Autolite 4100 on my off topic '63 Ranchero, and all I can say is that it is going to be hard to wipe the smile off my face. I found the correct 1.08" carb at a swap meet, and rebuilt it using a Motorcraft kit to the stock specs. The throttle response is awesome, it idles great and it has smooth power all the way to 5500 RPM's.

My Ranchero has a 5.0 out of a '96 Explorer that is stock internally, it has a Weiand Stealth intake, Mustang Tri-Y headers, and a points triggered MSD 6AL. It has a T-5, and an 8.8" rear end. The truck (car) weighs 2800 lbs with a full tank. I had installed a 600 Holley VS carb when I built the truck 9 years ago, and it ran ok, buy I felt that it could run better. I have been planning the 4100 swap for a few years, but I finally got around to doing it today. For anyone with a Mustang considering the same swap, I would highly suggest that you do it because I am still grinning.

put you a nice roller cam in the exploder motor and youll really see a bump in power...the stock explorer cam is restrictive...also add some roller rockers and you will basically have a 1993-1995 Cobra 5.0 motor

ya, those are excellent. had the same (4100 1.08) for a while when I had the 289. weiand action+ manifold and headers. twas a brilliant combination. crisp throttle response, no hickups with very little adjustments
