Default 1965/66 Rally Pack?

Today I was talking with a man who was telling me about the different types of Rally Packs that were found of the 65/66 Mustangs. Honestly, he got me confused, but this is what I believe he told me. 1964.5 had the word rally pack on it, 65 didn't, and 66 were the color matched ones which hung down a bit lower than the 65. Also, anyone who ordered one from a dealer got the word rally pack on it also. Can anyone verify this? Thank you!

Kinda right, although there were probably exceptions. The low-profile 'Pac was used in cars with the 5-gauge cluster in 65-66.

Like 2+2 said, there are a few variables. I've been told that the 65 high profile Rally Pacs (this includes 64.5 Mustangs) that were factory installed had the plain center piece and the dealer installed Rally Pacs had the "Rally Pac" center piece. I can't verify this though. While restoring a 1965 high profile Rally Pac a few years ago, I came across a nice Rally Pac tutorial compiled by a fellow Mustanger. It has lots of useful information on the original 65-66 Rally Pacs. It's no longer online, but I saved a pdf version. If you PM me your e-mail, I would be happy to share it.
