Default power steering pump adjustment

well im replacing my power steering pump for the second time in 4 years, lifetime warranty from checker. problem is leaking from the reservoir front oring. im thinking it might be from the way i tension it. the pump bracket i have is the old style that you have to pry on to adjust it. it would of been nice to have one of the later style with the adjusting bolt but not. anyway im now trying to find out the best way to pry on it without doing any damage to the reservoir. even with a lifetime warranty i dont really want to be replacing the pump every two years. 1970 mustang coupe. 302 engine. factory AC.

already done. i found if i put a small hyd. jack on the front cross brace i can put enough pressure upwards against the front of the pulley to get it tight.

i think youre over tightening your belts on the pumps leading them to failure...

I usually put a large screwdriver between a couple of the mounting bolts, then tighten the adjusting bolt. You should never never never never pry on the reservoir tank.

if youre tightening them enough to cause failure in the then youre causing damage to your main bearings in the engine, bearing in the waterpump etc whats ever is on that same belt....

i assume youre over tightening them to eliminate belt squeal?
