Default A little bit lost now...

OK, I have a 66 coupe. It ran when it got here, but very roughly. I went through and replaced the plugs, wires, points, condenser, rotor, cap, coil and fuel filter. Now, it cranks but it won't start. The gas is getting to the carb. I tried putting the old coil back in. I double and triple checked the wire lineup. I'm lost as to what I did wrong and will gladly take any trouble shooting help??!! Thanks!

What did you gap the plugs at? What did you gap the points at? Make sure you have good ground.

Not being a smartass but a little advise for the future. Do one thing at a time and check to be sure it works after each thing. That way you know the last thing you did is probably it.

thanks dad.

sounds like a timing thing. I would.suggest an electronic ignition, costs about 120$ for coil+conversion parts.

but for now double check that you have the points set up right.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I appreciate it! The plugs were gapped at .34, the points at .25 (both according to the book). Thanksdad, not being smart at all, just good advice, wish I'd have known/thought of that before I'd started, will definitely follow that next time. It was the points. I was going strictly by the book, didn't have anyone showing me. My FIL & BIL were here today and helped me out. It now starts/runs, but still needs some serious tuning. I'm off to learn how to use the timing light and dwell meter, wish me luck!!
