Default Emblems on a 67

I just picked up a 67 Coupe that will be a daily driver for my daughter. It started as a I 6 but now has a 289. I noticed one of the fenders has holes for an emblem in front of the driver's side wheel well while the passenger side does not. I'm assuming one of these fenders is a replacement, am I right?

Did the 67 have an engine size badge in this location or was it on the pony emblem behind the wheel well? I'm not too worried right now about authenticity but when I know I am adding something on, I want to try to be accurate.

It was the tri bar pony emblem, some people fill in the holes or they get painted over

The 67 200 had a tribar running horse. If the car had a V8, there was a "289" at the top, or a "390". Below and to the rear of the horse, there were individual "MUSTANG" letters.

That's what I thought. He must have replaced the panel with one off a 66 and didn't fill in the holes from the emblem.

A 66 fender will not fit on a 67 so that is unlikely. Post some pictures of the holes you are talking about and that would be helpful.

If I'm not mistaken 67 fenders were unique to 67, 68 had the turn signal.

You are correct, but the marker lamp hole was the only difference, other than whatever emblem holes were drilled.

Replacement fenders never came with emblem holes, since there was no way to know if they'd need standard, GT, or Shelby emblems.
