Default c4 auto/ Manual

Hey guys I got a few questions to ask you...I have recently bought a 65 fastback with an inline 6 and auto...I have purchased a full five lug setup with disc brakes, 8 inch rearend and a 1965 289 hipo 6 bolt...My question is now for the transmission, I'm having a hard time deciding between a t5 or a v8 c4...I really like the t5 when I had my 67 coupe, but I really hate to spend all that extra money just converting mine into a manual...Will the c4 hold up to the 289? I'm having it built almost like the shelby 289 but just with a slightly bigger cam..I grew up always hearing "A mustang is not a mustang without a stick shift", but changing gears does get old...I do a little bit a highway driving with my mustang so that is something else that is scaring me with the c4 and not having but 3 gears...I guess I'm just wanting to know what yall's take on it is?...Any info will be great guys, and is anyone changing their manual over to an automatic, if so I may be interested in buying your pedals and stuff... Sorry for any typo's..posting from a cell phone

C4 should hold up fine, iirc it holds Till 350, but I could be wrong.

C4 will take up to 350hp no problem....

I just rebuilt my engine and tranny.. I am running a roller cam 302, Holley 600cfm and MSD Ignition... Im guessing I am getting 250hp..., but I am not done tuning it either...

The rebuilt C4 is handling everything that this engine has.

The issue that you might not like is that C4 is only 3 speeds... If you already have a c4 then you are good to go... But if you in the position that you need to buy a tranny, then you might want to look into a Ford AOD. This will give you Overdrive... Knock down the RPM's on the freeway, getting you better gas mileage...

They have different splines for the input shaft, not sure what this means for your 65. You will need to use the 73 TC because its a 26 spline instead of the 24. . The bell housing pattern should be the same
