What color was the axle housing on a 69 8" rear? Black?

Looks like the outside of the differrential was red?

Also is there an easy way to remove the p-brake cable from the backing plate on rear drum?

housing is semi gloss black.

third member/pinion support is commonly painted red-oxide

besides pressing in the tabs on the cable, i don't know of an easier way to remove the cables.

Here's your colors.



To remove the brake cables, strap a small hose clamp on the cable retainer. Tap the cable through the clamp and back plate.
