Question not sure?

Im currently in the process of upgrading my 65 coupe w/ 289 2 barrel to a 4 barrel and basically working towards the same spec as gt-350 around 300 hp is good for me. I have already inquired a nice torker 289 edelbrock intake and now I'm stuck I'm not sure what size carb to go with and also if wether i should go and upgrade the cam and lifters too?

For a 289, a 650 cfm carb would be tops, in my opinion.

I'm a big fan of edelbrock carbs. In my experience they're a lot more reliable than holleys.

If you're going for 300hp then I'd go with the 650.

As far as a cam goes, I've never been satisfied with "off the shelf" cams. Personally I'd go with a custom grind. With your HP goals it would be a good idea to go with a hydraulic roller setup.

If you don't change the cam, stay with a 500 cfm carb. If you do, use a 600. Either way, you'll need to upgrade the exhaust ports to take advantage of your intake upgrade.

He means the actual ports in the head. Even though you upgraded your exhaust, it is still bottle necked by the ports in the head.

Too right. Typcally, there's so much flash and extra metal in the exhaust ports, even though you might have fire hose for exhaust, the big pipes are sipping through a soda straw at the heads.
