Default Rocker molding delete?

I to get rid of the rocker moldings. Can I just drill out the rivets on the clips and weld up the holes or fill them with filler?

Thanks

Yes I did the same thing. Eliminate another place for rust to occur

just be careful on the welding, the inside of the rocker is galvanized, and it results in some nasty welds if you penetrate too deep.

Would a good filler be ok?

Hmmm… I filled the rivet holes in my 66 in 1975, then put 300,000 miles on it. No rust at the holes yet.

I just welded mine, it was a fairly simple ordeal. I did not like the idea of spending money for paint materials and then taking a chance on a bubble forming on a covered hole. It would probably be fine to fill it, just brush some epoxy on the edges of the hole first since drilling the rivits could have removed or scratched the galvanize coating, you don't want any rust starting under the paint.
