Flames!!!
So I have a 66 with a swapped 302 built a little. The car ran fine on Monday. Tonight my brother and myself go to start it, it needed a jumped I'm hooking it up and a thin red wire popped off so at first I did bare wire to the connector jumped it and a flame shot out of the carb. And stayed a flame for a bit. So I undid the battery again and put the metal connector back to the wore rebooked it up and still flames. FYI when that red wire touched power I can hear a clicking in the motor. I feel like from watching so many over hauling shows if there's a flame is a ground or something? An I close? Any help please.
Its a red wire a little thinner then a pencil, it runs on the pass. Side and when it touches the battery you can hear a click in the motor. Before it can off the connector to the terminal bolt it was barley touching. Maybe too much power going to it. I reopened the wire clamp and securely hooked it up.
my best guess is you're jumping straight to the coil and the clicking you hear is probably a spark plug firing off or something. Usually when flames start shooting out of the carb it's because the timing is off and the spark plug is igniting while the intake valve is open.
Need a better description here though. Possibly some pics.

Okay so this wire connects to the battery with some type connector? Does it connect to the + or - side of the battery?
Where does the wire go after the battery does it go to a round thing with other wires on the passenger side fender?
and when you hook this thing up it clicks? what clicks? Does it sound like the engine wants to turn over??
You also think this wire is causing fuel to burn inside the carb ventures and results in flames coming out of the carb? That never happend before?

Can't take a pick left the car is at my bros. it's on the positive. It's not a turning over sound a basic click.
this connector basic one. It was night time so I couldn't see where it went to.
This is a pic I had I think the red wire on the left top.

so it looks like the wire runs to the start solenoid (the gray thing on the fender top left corner of the bottom photo)
Here is a diagram that shows how the starter solenoid should be hooked up

The diagram is a bit hard to read but may give you an idea.
What you'll have to do when you have the access to the car is take several detailed photos of the wire in question.

another question...is the wire that fell off the largest wire on that starter solenoid ? (there maybe one other on the other side of the solenoid that is equally as large)
OR
is the wire that fell off not the largest sized wire that connects to the start solenoid?
