Default Ahhhhhhh........

...........BRAKES!!!! My son and I are doing the CSRP power disc brake conversion on his '68........and installing an all new suspension at the same time. He's 15 and will be driving this car next year. Trying to let him do as much of the wrench turning as possible........the whole "bonding with his car" theory........heh heh. We are having FUN!!

Here he is installing the new backing plate.

Very nice. He'll definitely appreciate the car more having put his own sweat and blood into it.

Probably dealer installed undercoating. They used to get it in 55 gallon drums and would spray it on sometimes 3/4 of an inch thick with a fire hose then tag the buyer with an additional cost. Looks like your son really got into it and tell him congrads on his first ride.

Man, that is awesome! I cannot imagine how the project and the memories will impact your son in the coming years.

Good on ya for teaching the skills!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Everything my son does is tied to that car.....grades, behavior, etc......and he's a really good kid.

Here is a fun story.........I also own the '91 GT below. I bought it new on May 26, 1991 and it now has 173,000 miles on it and still runs perfectly. Mostly stock and mostly original, including the paint. This car brought my son home from the hospital when he was born........he got his Learner's Permit back in November and last Tuesday evening he realized a lifelong dream of his........he drove the GT on the street!!! He's been driving it in parking lots since he was 13, so he can more than handle the 5spd.....it was a VERY big day for the both of us.......I must say that a bit of dust apparently flew in a window and got in my eyes at one point...........

Oh, and the video below shows how much I "baby" the GT......this was taken last summer by my son........turn up the volume on your speakers........
