Toploader question!!!!
hello guys,
so i have been doing some research on this subject. so my father and my self are rebuild a 69 mach1 with a 428 scj in it. my question is we do not have the original transmission that came out of it but he does have one that came out of a fairlane tag number (RUG-AJ). i know that tail shaft is longer and it has both mounting locations for shifter.
my question for u guys is, i have read, i can use a drive shaft for a c-6. is this true and is there anything else i will have to do? this will be pretty much a numbers matching car. do you think i should just pony up and buy the right one? i could use the money we save to buy some of the other parts that are need (oil cooler and some of the line).
tahnks for the input

are you gonna be competing at shows for a bone stock car ie no mods whatsoever? if not then i would use what you got not like the average joe blow is gonna be under your car reading date tags
thought about that and the mustang ones go for about double..... don't really care about it being 100% maybe someday i will change it out for the right one. we have everything right now to make this one work i just to make sure there isn't anything else we are going to have to do..
You sure about that length thing? I thought the 'Lane had the shifter in the middle, the Mustang at the end. 67-70 BB Mustangs typically had the Fairlane style, with an adapter plate moving the shifter to the correct spot for the Mustang.
the trans we have has both locations to mount the shifter... so that should be fine, im trying to make sure that drive shaft out of a c-6 trans will fit.. i guess we will find out when we get to that point... we just finished the under body and now have painted the whole interior now my father is doing all the tedious interior details and dash. ill post some pics
