Default front fender

I have a 66 coupe and while putting the fender on I notice there is a small gap underneath the fender in the wheel well. My friend who is helping me is convinced there is a inner wheel well or something that is supposed to be here kinda like this in the link. I know that there is one for the rear but i have never heard of one for the front. He calls them an inner fender but I don't think there is one. I know they have the splash shields does anyone know if there is supposed to be something like the thing in the link for the front fender?

I dont think so man. Only the splash guard that fits in between the fender and door at the rear of the fender.

There is a front splash shield that attaches to the fender to keep dirt and mud out from around the headlight area. The mustangs don't have inner fenders the the Camaros do. http://www.cjponyparts.com/FENDER-SP...-1966/p/M156R/
Also there should be dumdum or caulking between the fender and the body to seal out any water from getting in the engine compartment. I usually go to Ace and get some rope caulking to do the job.
