Default heater

Ok so while the mustang was down with electrical problems I worked on the thermostat housing. I took off the hose fitting and plugged it, now I have no heat. Can someone post a pic of the correct heater hose routing. Id rather not freeze.

Hmmm… There is no hose fitting on the thermostat housing of a properly assembled engine.

Yeah I never could find one without one unfortunately. So I just recently pulled of and plugged it. Thanks for the pics, I figured is have to run one off of the intake.

You're looking in the wrong places. Glazier/Nolan has the 65-67 style in an excellent repro. Not even expensive.

The fitting on the intake is special, it has a tube protruding from the bottom, to prevent air getting into the heater, and a restriction inside to prevent too much water flow through the heater.

What would happen if air got in it? I have some brass fittings I was going to use.

I'm confused on what you plugged. Did you plug the hose fitting on the thermostat housing? That is used for the bypass and you can't plug that one.

Yeah that is what I plugged. Cut it off, tapped the hole and inserted a plug.

You cut off the bypass tube? You are screwed, and you need to get a new housing. I thought you meant the hole in the top for the DVCV.

Without the bypass, water will not circulate in the cold engine, and you'll get hot spots, and the thermostat will open late because hot water can't get to it.

The heater outlet on the intake looks like this. Notice the extension tube-

I wasn't sure what it would do but I knew it could not be good.
