Default 65 coil wiring

does anyone have any information on wiring a 1965 302 coil? when i try to start my car i am nmow hearing a click from the solenoid not there before. and no fire going to the coil. someone has cut the pink resistance wire out but i have an electronic system now, i believe its a pentronics or something of that nature. anmy help on just wiring it up straight would be greatly appreciated thanks a million

That sounds like either the battery is low, starter is messed up, or solenoid is stuck. Try tapping the solenoid with the handle of a screwdriver and see if that does anything. Also what kind of voltage reading are you getting off of the battery?

my battery is fine 12.5 volts and the cl;icking is only momentarily right after i try to start it only does a little click and thats it. it turns over but no spark i assumed it was the wiuring from the switch cause it has a aftermarket switch and there is no fire going from the switch to the coil can i just put it on a toggle switch?

If the battery is bad, it will just click. Could also be your relay. I know you are reading 12.5 but that isnt always the cranking power. Jump straight from the battery to the starter to see if that is ok. If that works, its your relay, IMHO.

did that and still no spark to plugs i think i am going to run a resistance wire from my console toggle switch to the coil and styarter solinoid and see where that takes me i will fuse it as well any thoughts

Check and see if your coil is getting power to the + side when the key is in the run position, don't crank it unless you want a nice shock. If it is then its something in the distributor, or the coil itself.

Ya what he said, and you can also, just use a jumper wire from the + battery to + coil straight up and crank it up see if she starts!

i am using an accel coil and a pentronics (?) electronic ignition i just today noticed that the wire that goes to the starter solinoid is getting really warm so i took a look and the resistence wire (pink) is been removed guess that could be the problem

if that accel coil is internally resisted you wont need a resistance wire/ballast resistor. grab yourself a voltmeter and start checking. Also check the amount of ohms that your coil is reading.
