So I started rebuilding my front suspension and have never done anything this large before. It's going pretty good, have the coils, struts, sway bar, shocks all removed. Working on disconnecting the lower control arm. However, I ran into a little issue because now I have to remove the cross member to get the lower control arm bolt out. Pretty fun project so far.

Anyone have any stories to share about there front suspension removel / install?

yes dont waste your time with a pickle fork....just hit the part you want the stud to come out with a hammer and it will fall apart after 3-4 good whacks...

I have been reading that so I think tomorrow I will give that a try before buying any un-needed tools.

when i was 16 i had a 72 fastback i beat and beat on the pickle for when i tried to replace my lower control arms....3 whacks with the hammer and it fell apart like butter

I read that article last night and makes sense. I am heading out in the garage shortly and will follow up later as to if the hammer worked

Any concerns about the alignment? I mean I will try my best but probably will bring in to the shop once the snow melts!

Here is the passenger side, the hammer worked on this side.

Use an air wrench on the tubular crossmember bolts.

For ball joints, an expansion tool, like this, is quick and easy-

Might as well do the UCA drop while your at it!

I agree. Best thing since sliced bread. Ford was completely stupid to not incorporate it on all Mustangs.
