Default Automatic gear shifter.

is this normal to be able to shft from drive to the low gear without pressing the button. If not normal could this be why my tranny may slip. Should i rebuild it?

All the mustangs I have ever owned you must push the button to down shift. I guess they didn't want anyone accidentally kicking it into a lower gear when your girlfriend was being passonate. I believe you must be going 20 mph or less in order for the tranny to shift into first when shifting down. Second gear, you can be going 70!!
