Default electronic ignition

I'm putting in electronic ignition. If the engine is running smooth now, do I have to adjust the timing after the switch? Do I need to upgrade the plugs or are stock plugs ok. Thanks

Definitely need to retime afterwards. Stock plugs are fine, although you may open the gap a hair.

what do you mean by electronic ignition? is this just a conversion from points to a mag pickup or are you changing distributors?

no just replacing the points. I was planing on keeping the stock distributor. Also would I set the timing? I haven't dealt with a timing light for a long time.
