Driveshaft question?
i saw this thread, so i decided to go out and put a zip tie on the slip yoke.
i then put a floor jack under the rear axle, jacked it up so the rear wheels were about a foot off the floor and released the jack as quick as i could. i'm not sure if the rearend hit the rubber bumpers or not. it almost sound like it did.
the zip tie moved 0.146".
in my opinion on these leaf spring mustangs, the required slip distance is determined by how much slip you need to get the rear joint past the pinion so you can install it (which is probably on the order of 1/2").

Thanks guys, that is a big help. I'm gonna get my driveshaft cut today or tomorrow. Taking it to a machine shop so i can get it balanced too. Needs about two inches off! Then can install! I'm mounting a floor e brake so gotta put that in before I install the driveshaft.
Will be back .....
