Default What is Code V...etc

I have seen som wording on Mustang adds that I am not familiar with. Can you tell me what it means when they say it is Code V, P...etc? I have also read something about a 289 stamp on the motor. Where can I find this?

Default RE: What is Code V...etc

Usualy when someone is talking about the "CODE" they are referring to the engine code. In 1965 the “A†code was a 289 4V, the “K†code was the 289 Hi-Po and the “C†was the 289 2V. The “V†code was only used in 65 and was the 170ci, I-6. The only reference I can find for a “P†was in 1968 for the 428 4V. See the link below for a code/VIN breakdown.

There is no 289 stamp on the engine. Just a block code.
