Whats the best?
i have a 66' mustang and would like to add some hp. people have told me to add a 4 barrel carburator, new exhaust, bigger headers, and all sorts of things. but 1st things first i think i should change my suspension and was wondering what kind of suspension i should get
Welcome,
I've got a '66 too, and am just getting ready to replace the entire front and rear end. So what kind of driving do you like to do?
Are you into street cruising, road racing, Drag racing, or are you more into the car show thing? That will make the difference on what kind of chassis stuff you'd want to do.
What kind of brakes have you got?
What kind of power are you looking to make down the road?

i like to cruise around but i can drive a bit fast at times too...especially if theres some guy that thinks hes cool tryin to go fast ide just love to kill him. i was thinkin about makin it a show car...but ill prob use it as an everyday car
I'd make a plan, figure out how much money I had, and read a lot about what other people are doing, and what they are doing with their cars. Also go to some car shows and look at what others have, and visit with some of the vendors who sell all this stuff.
Good luck,
Good luck,
one tip from experience is.... read the stuff on these forums it will prepare you for what you have ahead and will give you some good ideas.
I personally would get exhaust first because whats the point in getting a 4 barrel and cramming air/fuel down the engine when it can only get it out of there at a certain rate.
I my self am not to concerned about suspension (until I start to get some serious HP) mainly because I don't try and go 30mph around a corner and I realize its a classic and that if your not careful then you don't deserve to have it (not saying that haveing fun with it is wrong, just be safe about it) so dont try and go from 40-0 in 20 feet at a stop light.
Im not trying to say forget about doing saspension or any safty things, im just saying that it wouldnt be on the top of my to do list.... given your safe.

The first thing I would do would be to make sure the car is safe to drive. That includes brakes and suspension. Go up on top and read about the Granada disk brake conversion, then go out and see what braking system you have. If it is a drum/shoe system, then consider that as your first upgrade. There are several suspension systems/kits you can buy depending on your driving habits.
