Please help.
I have a chance to purchase a as new MSD 8584 elec dist. It is listed for the 351 Windsor years 1969-? The windsor and the 302 are same as far as I know except the bore and stroke. The cams are the same with different firing orders. Will the 8584 work in my 302? Any help asap would be appreciated. I know I will have to use the 6A ign box.

okay its just stuff on the blocks like water pumps that are different. All the catalogs have a distibuter for 260,289,302 and then a different distibuter for the 351 400 429 460. so no a 351 distributer wont fit a 302

IIRC, The gear is different, and I believe the shaft is longer as well on the 351W...meaning the distributors would not interchange.
Look through the Summit web site. If the distributors are interchangeable they will list it.
Good luck,

Hey Guys,
I looked at Summit before posting. They are different part numbers. I guess I was trying to make it fit. I don't mind modifying a bit. The shaft does look longer. Does anyone have any comments on the ProComp dist on e-bay? I see some with the HEI coils for my application. I think that would look cool but a little Chevy on a Mustang.
