I dont know much about octane, but I do know that there is almost no difference between jet fuel and kerosene. I think jet fuel is only slightly higher octane but I could be wrong. We had a friend who was moving and he had 30 gal of kerosene he had to get rid of. Needless to say the 671 diesel on our boat never ran cleaner with its diesel/kerosene mix! So speed difference though, as indicated by our GPS.

I run the highest octane pump gas I can get in both my 65 and my 03 Mach. When I used to use 87 octane in the 65, it would ping under load.

This is a dumb question, but can you add octane to gas in anyway? Without buying premium. Will the premium be better against wear and tear?

You can buy octane booster or whatever they call it off the shelf, but it is just snake oil. Just buy the highest octane gas available at the pump.
