Default GPR's build thread

I took this in trade toward some of the labor on a 1968 Shelby GT500 I was painting years ago for a friend. It has been a lot of years and many changes getting to where it is today. It will take me awhile to get you caught up. The reason for 4.6 SOHC and AOD is because it was from my Dad's 1996 T-bird and he would have been happy to see it in my Coupe.

This is what I started with

It was a solid body except the floor pans, doors, hood and deck lid.

One of the first things I did was flare the fenders out 1 1/4" at the top leaving them attached at the bottom.

The quarter panel was a little harder because I also had to modify the inner wheelhouse

I stripped it down to bare metal than primed with SPI epoxy than sprayed 2 coats of Slick Sand Polyester primer

We stripped all paint and undercoat off and welded up all the seams

Subframe connectors and Rod & Custom Motorsports rear crossmembers welded in

Test fitting the rear suspension so the rear sway bar brackets can be welded in. Found out the sway bar was to long.
This was their second kit that I've had for awhile and they now have a 2" shorter sway bar that they sent me.

We have finished the bottom of the body and sprayed it with SPI bedliner.

I did away with the cowl vent and installed Rod & Custom coilover front suspension.

Body work finished on the fender aprons and firewall.
