Default Pertronix 2 distributor + coil

Hi
I wast just reading a bit on the petronix.com website about the pertronix 2 distributor.

1) Do any of you guys have this on your stang ? I am thinking about getting one for my 66 coupe. Do they fit ?
2) Do i understand it correctly that this pertronix 2 is just bolt on and go ? That it automaticly sets the timing correctly ?

I knew damn well as soon as I took it off the top that we would get this question. Yes, it will fit and bolt right up, but you have to have a constant 12 Volt source. The ignition is the best 12 volt source available.

1) So this will solve the possible timing problem i was having earlier right ? Is it easy to install ?
2) I have to have a constant 12 volt source .... don't I always have this coming from the coil ? I was thinking on getting a flamethrower.
3) Do you know how much they cost cause the pertronix site didnt mention this.

The peronix has virually nothing to do with timing, It is simply an electronic replacemet for your manual points system.

I installed mine. But no, it wont correct incorrect timing. It installs right in the place of the points, and no, there is not 12 volts at the coil. You must run a new line to the ignition switch. I found the wire(which is pink) and just used a splice connector, and ran the line.

Oh right, i was on the wrong track there ... I thought the pertronix kit included a new distributor as well
I'll install my new manifold and carb first and we'll see how far i get

Yeah, What Glen said. You only wish it was a whole distributor for that price, but i think it's cool, because you got your original dizzy, with electronic ignition.

Yes you can purchase a complete pertronix dist. I like the HEI style because it does away with your dist wires and cleans up your engine compartment. Look on e-bay. I found them on there at a buy it now price for around $229. I installed the accel points eliminator with no complaints yet. I will someday have the pertronix distributor.
