Help with engine ID
I bought a 67 coupe with a 302. Being a newbie I am asking for some help on finding some info on engine. I have found a block cast # of E7TE-CA on the drivers side by the bell housing and a partial VIN # LNB1S on the top of the block at the back of the engine just behind the intake. What I have gotten from digging is the block is a 87 but does not mean the engine was built in 87. If anyone can add it would be much appreciated as I am tring to figure out what I have as a starting point before planning mods. Thank you for your replies.
What else do you need to know?
BTW ford engines have the casting info on the pass side just above the starter motor. The number should be D2OE-6015-AE or similar. the number I show is for a 72 302. to understand what you have the first letter identifies the decade of mfg :
C=60
D=70
E=80
F=90
The next number is the year of mfg:
0=60,70, 80, etc...
5= 65,75,85, etc...
And so on...
You need to pull the starter and have a look.

At some point they stopped calling engines by Cu inches and transferred to liters. I think in the late 80's or 90's - maybe some one else here knows. I'm not sure exactly when I think the roller blocks came once the 5.0 was designed - -again maybe someone else can comment.
FYI-a 302 is a 5.0 L

I found a post that showed firing order for ford 5.0(non-HO) and for Ford 5.0 HO and 5.8 L. I checked it to my distributor and it is firing to the HO Order 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Does that mean it is a roller/forged pistons/etc? I am hoping that it was a EFI HO that was converted to a carb.
