Did you mean to link a picture, and didn't? What year model are you referring to? The old classics had a dash pad that you simply replace. And, it is an easy thing to do. The dash itself is welded on.

I think he is talking about the cover. Companies have started offering dash pad covers for the dash pads. I have never seen one installed nor have I know anyone to do it.

Ah, OK. My hearing isn't too good anymore. Nah, I have not seen a dash pad cover either. Why not just replace the dash pad, then you won't need a cover? I would think a custom made cover would be just about as expensive as the dash pad itself.

The dash pads can cost anywhere from $300-500 and the covers cost around $100. It is for a 1969 mustang coupe...
I would think one would no what a dash looks like but here you go...

That's not the dash. That's the dash pad. That slips over the dash which is made out of steel.
Where did you find out that covers cost $100.00 for your 69? Go to that source.

Dash covers are cheap ABS plastic. They look good when viewed outside of the car. They are glued onto your existing dash pad.

My opinion -

If you have the cash - buy the real thing.
If you don't, and the dash is completely thrashed - buy the cover.
If you don't, and the dash is just sagging a little, but in good condition - don't buy the cover.

Man, I am illiterate. I thought he was talking about those cloth/carpet type of covers, and not the vinyl covers. I think they are called caps though. I have seen a few of those, and they really looked cheap to me. If it were mine, I would save my pennies in a jar and get a real dash pad some day.

My experience is that if I go the cheaper route now, I hate myself for doing it half $$$ and buy the real thing later. Therefore, I save moeny by doing it right the first time.
