You don't have to remove the butterfly plate, just use a good degreaser and a parts brush and you'll be fine.

I have rebuilt dozens of carbs over the last 40 years and never once removed the butterfly plate ( I wanted to but opted out due to wrecking the plate and screws) It won't affect the performance if you don't remove it.

Generally you want to try and keep degreaser away from plastic and rubber but if you're replacing the accelerator pump anyway which I highly recommend, don't worry about it. Sometimes you have to purchase the accelerator pump separately since not all carb kits include them.

Just keep it simple, it's easy to go off the rails during a resto.

67v8, are you talking about the 2 pumps on the outside or the ( what I call a pump ) thats on the inside? It has the angled piece and is under the pressed in cap on the top of the carb.

Have any of ya'll heard of there being any "as build" info behind the rear seat or backing. I was told that some person at the factory placed a date and time, place of manufacture, etc, etc. All the stuff that the plates have.

Does this look like the correct adjustment? I'm thinking that this is 1 3/32"

Yep, it's called the Build Sheet and it's taped into a tight roll high up inside of the dashboard cavity. Be careful removing it because it's very brittle and will crumble if mishandled. Try cutting the tape without damaging the sheet. Mine was to the right of the steering column way up in there.

Okay from your photo of the disassembled carb, you have an external accelerator pump (the square looking diaphragm thingy that mounts to the outside of the carb with 4 little screws and soft spring) exactly like my 2 barrel carb. I forget what that other thing that's pressurized under the cap is but I do know what you are describing. It looks like doing okay.

That reads right if that is what the spec sheet says (1 3/32).

What about the drop adjustment?

67v, I'm not sure about the "drop". What are you calling the "drop"?

I'll have to check up in the dash to see. My F.I.L. said that they put the sheet behind the back seat. But that may have been in the earlier models.( 40/50's ) He's been building/ tinkering with cars his whole life. He's 82.
