Default 65-66 Arm Rest Fix?

So I may have solved a problem that has already been solved. I had the stock front seats in my 66 redone but had side bolsters added. The side bolsters hit the stock door arm rests making it impossible to close the doors. The quick fix was to cut off 1.25" off the arm rests. This, or course, looked lousy so I designed and machined new arm rests. They are the same length as the OEM ones so the rubber insert fits right but I offset the mounting hole forward to clear the seat bolsters.

The middle picture shows the OEM arm rest above the new ones and you can see how forward the new one sits.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I have been wanting to go with the TMI standard upholstery sport style setup when the time comes to redo my seats. I'm wondering if this clearance issue is a problem with that as well. Your solution looks very nice.
