Default 78 302 rebuild help!

So i got this 302 awhile back and ive been wanting to rebuild it for a daily driver but add a few horses to it. the block is from a 78 Lincoln continental and with the engine came a pair of 1965 289 heads. Ive seen people talk about using older parts like that on this kind of a later block to improve performance but im not sure which parts from which years are compatible with this block. stuff like can I take the rocker arms and valve springs of the original 302 heads and use them on the 289 heads since it was missing all of them? any in put is helpful since this my first time doing a rebuild.

From CA? Check your smog requirements first. That might limit your options...

Default smog

I think it should be fine has long as I put it in anything before 1975. I don't actually have a car to put it in yet.

.
the early heads flow poorly . . the gt 40 p explorer heads flow well but need to be milled to get the compression up.

a good cam for moderate performance would be a comp xe262h with 3.23 gears . . if you dont drive much at 65 mph or more than 3.43 gears will increase acceleration.

eddy performer intake.

quick fuel 600 cfm vacuum secondary carb.

make it 9.7 compression for 91 or higher octane.

.
