65 Coupe 6 cylinder (200) running woes:

My 65 mustang 6 wants to start and sometimes does but will not keep running, sputters then quits. Was running well until a few weeks ago.
I have repaired or replaced the following:
Replaced the Fuel Pump, New points, Dist cap, Plug wires, Spark plugs
Rebuilt carburetor this past weekend

I will be resetting the timing, and looking to change points to electronic ignition or installing a new distributor....looking for a recommendation on this.

I don't think it's bad gas. Have been running regular non ethanol fuel. Looking to drain tank next and blowing out the lines. Fuel tank is relatively new, 8 yrs old.

This seems to be a common problem from what I have read, just can't figure it out.

Have you changed the fuel filter as well?

 

Have you done any troubleshooting? Do you know if the compression and vacuum are OK? Have you checked the spark and the fuel? Have you checked the timing with a timing light?

 

Will be checking the timing this evening. Have not checked compression...thx
